Denise Drumm-Gurnee PhD, MSc, NBC-HWC, RYT-500

Denise Drumm-Gurnee is a professional wellness coach and movement instructor specializing in guiding individuals through transitions and transformative change. With a strong background in healthcare, she has channeled her passion for health and wellness into comprehensive certifications in the Pilates Method, various Yoga traditions, Mindfulness, and Meditation. As a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach, Denise also holds specialized certifications in Resilience Coaching, Positive Psychology-Based Wellbeing Coaching, Meditation Coaching, and Transition Coaching.

 

Through her multifaceted roles as a coach, Pilates and yoga instructor, mindfulness and meditation guide, Denise empowers clients to create meaningful changes that enhance their goals and overall well-being.  Her integrated approach considers the whole person, tailoring teaching, and coaching strategies to meet each client’s unique needs—whether in physical practice, mindfulness, or spiritual growth. Grounded in neuroscience and evidence-based techniques, Denise supports clients navigating processes of transition, transformation, or transcendence.

Drawing from over 25 years of direct patient interaction, Denise’s coaching is informed by her diverse professional background in clinical, research, and academic roles. She holds a Master of Science (MSc) in speech-language pathology with a specialization in information processing and a PhD in Psychological Foundations of Education, focusing on psycholinguistics. Her research experience includes securing funding for her research in stroke, neurodegeneration, and traumatic brain injury.  She has served as Research Director for Neurosciences and Simulation & Innovation within a multi-hospital system and served as a clinical scientist for a brain donation program at  a research institute. Additionally, Denise has taught aging-related graduate-level courses at two universities.  


Drawing on research in neuroplasticity, Denise emphasizes the vital role of awareness and mindful movement in achieving personal and professional goals. By blending evidence-based techniques with movement, she empowers individuals to explore their self-potential and create lasting change. 


Denise’s mission is to help clients achieve a balanced and fulfilling personal and professional life while enhancing resilience and growth.  As a lifelong learner, she actively participates in workshops, seminars, and training to stay at the forefront of coaching and movement practices. 


In her personal time, Denise enjoys spending quality moments with her family, hiking, and writing.
